How to become a Certified Nurse Assistant?

Many types of Certified Nursing Assistant schools are present in USA. CNA training can be taken in institutions like Red Cross which provided complete six month training. Local hospitals and medical establishments offer CNA training. Students will be required to work for the institution for a short period of time for taking this course. Institutions like Tucson College and Stevens - Henager College offer University recognized CNA certification courses. The duration of such courses is very short. It will last for two to six weeks of time.

The work of Certified Nurse Assistant is versatile and requires lot of perseverance. CNA professionals should actually touch and clean the wounds and body of the patient. They are required to change the bedpans, keep the patient clean and check their basic ailments like high pressure and sugar level. So the CNA schools will teach its students basic concepts about anatomy, ethics, good manners, non-medical patient care, how to keep safe from infections and emergency time actions.

Theory and clinical training are given to students in CNA schools. The theory part teaches the students to behave and talk in a professional way to the patient. They are taught to address the patient respectfully through their name, knock before entering the room and to clean and bath the patients without exposing their parts to others in a covered way. They will be trained to behave in a way which does not affect the self esteem of the patient in any way. Medical instrument usage is also taught.

Clinical training in CNA course gives a chance for students to practice all they read in the theory class. Students mix with real patients in hospitals and practice what they were taught in an efficient manner. Once the theory part is completed, students undergo proper clinical training before appearing for state CNA certification tests. It is the responsibility of the CNA training school to arrange for clinical training to students. In most cases the institution providing the training will itself arrange for the test.

The test will contain a written test which tests everything learned in theory and a practical part which will check how well the student have been trained during clinical experience. Every minute factor from asking permission to enter the room to washing hands before touching the patient will be noted carefully in the practical part.
